G&DI members Carole Sach, Haldun Solmaztürk and Simon Kleinig attended the Roll of Honour twilight ceremony at the Tower of London at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 9 September 2014. In a solemn and moving ceremony conducted at last light, 150 names were read from The Roll of Honour, followed by the playing of The Last Post.
Carole Sach’s grandfather, William Pritchard, was among those fallen who were remembered and honoured that evening. William was a member of the 1st Australian Imperial Force, 4th Battalion, Regiment 1422, and was killed in action between 6 – 9th August 1915 during bitter fighting at Lone Pine.
