Norfolk Gallipoli Service Attracts Big Congregation
The annual Gallipoli Memorial Service was held on Saturday, 20 September 2014 and was attended by over 140 people. Tradionally held at St Nicholas’ Church in Dersingham, the commemoration was joined by the Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk and the Deputy Mayor of Hunstanton, together with local community groups and representatives of those countries who served at Gallipoli.
A special feature of this year’s commemoration was the presentation of G&DI Life Membership to Lt-Cmdr Arthur Coxon, whose father served at Gallipoli and later raised his family at Dersingham. Lt-Cmdr Coxon went on to pursue a successful career in both the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy, and remains of lifelong supporter of the events of the Gallipoli campaign.
