As part of its programme to both educate and foster international friendship, three members of G&DI participated in Great War Week at Goodenough College, Russell Square, London. A warm welcome was extended by the Dean of Goodenough College, Roger Llewellyn.
Addressing post-graduate students in the Churchill Room, Haldun Solmaztürk, John Crowe and Simon Kleinig spoke about the Gallipoli Campaign from the perspective of three different countries and how today’s world can learn from the mistakes of the past.
Gallipoli Night was illustrated with an informative powerpoint display featuring maps and images of the campaign and an enthusiastic audience later asked questions. The origins of the Gallipoli campaign were explained and how the conflict fitted into the greater picture of the Great War:
