It is 100 years since the Quintinshill Rail Disaster. An appalling scene near Gretna Green of impacting trains, derailed and burning carriages, is still remembered as Britain’s worst-ever rail disaster, with calamitous loss of life. Many of the soldiers aboard the troop train were on their way to Gallipoli. Read more here:
