Gallipoli & Dardanelles International join our friends in Gelibolu Dernegi & Newfoundlanders at the Helles Memorial.

This was a unique centenary event when members of G&DI and Gelibolu Dernegi were able to join members of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Advisory Council and members of the Regiment at the Helles Memorial. British, Turkish and Canadians were able to remember in a spirit of peace and friendship the tragic events that took place there in 1915.

There was a solemn ceremony of remembrance during which wreaths were laid. The Presidents of G&DI and Gelibolu Dernegi, John Crowe and Suleyman Tas both also laid wreaths.

After the ceremony it was a great opportunity to meet both new and old friends.

G&DI thank Mr Ron Penney for arranging this important ceremony.
