ANZAC Day at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris
This was commemorated on 25th April with a ceremony at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Ian Reed, Committee Member of G&DI attended with representatives and supporters of the French Association (‘Association Nationale pour le Souvenir des Dardanelles et Fronts d’Orient). Wreaths were laid and the flame re-ignited called the ‘ravivage’.
Also in attendancewere members of Groupes Lourds and diplomatic staff and French students from several schools and colleges around the country
The ‘Guard of Honour’ was performed by the Paris Fire Service (Sappeurs Popier) who commemorated the service they gave to put out the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral 4 years previously in April 2019.
