This well attended annual service was held at this lovely old church, thanks to the invitation of the Rector, Father Adrian Ling.
The congregation was led by the Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.
G&DI’s standard, led seven to be presented at the alter,
Representatives attended for Turkey, Australia, France, New Zealand, and the Gurkhas.
Nine wreaths were laid at a Memorial Window bearing the names of King’s Lynn men, that died during WW1, including Gallipoli.
The exhortation was read by Major David Bredin (Retd)
Ataturk’s words of peace and reconciliation were read by Mr Selcuk Gedikli, Political Officer, from the Turkish Embassy in London.
After the service the congregation joined together for tea and home made ANZAC Biscuits.
It was an excellent service fulfilling the aims and objectives of Gallipoli & Dardanelles International, namely ‘Remembrance’ ‘Friendship’ and ‘Education’.
Next year it will be held again at All Saints Church, (date awaits). ALL ARE WELCOME. Please come and join us.
Lest we forget.
