Annual Gallipoli Memorial Service held on 3rd August 2024
Service held at All Saint’s Church, King’s Lynn, Norfolk
Organised by Gallipoli & Dardanelles International. This well attended annual service was held at this lovely old church, thanks to the invitation of the Revd Canon Adrian Ling CMP, Rector of South and West London.
The congregation was led by the Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, Councillor Paul Bland.
G&DI’s standard, led five to be presented at the alter,
Representatives attended for Turkey, Australia, France, New Zealand, and the Gurkhas.
Ten wreaths were laid at a Memorial Window bearing the names of King’s Lynn men, that died during WW1, including Gallipoli.
The exhortation was read by Major David Bredin (Retd)
Ataturk’s words of peace and reconciliation were read by Lt Col Ferit Can, Army Attache,from the Turkish Embassy in London.
After the service the congregation joined together for tea and home made ANZAC Biscuits.
It was an excellent service fulfilling the aims and objectives of Gallipoli & Dardanelles International, namely ‘Remembrance’ ‘Friendship’ and ‘Education’.
Next year it will be held again at All Saints Church, on Saturday 2nd August 2025.
