Gallipoli and Dardanelles Annual visit to Turkey.
Visit to village of Kucukanafarta.
This visit was the highlight of our trip to Turkey, led by Committee Member, David Ellis, as the President was unwell.
The group included Mr Eric Langford, who represented the Village of Snettisham in Norfolk. We have helped in establishing a friendship between Snettisham and Kucukanafarta with exchange of gifts, resulting in a visit to Snettisham last year by the previous Head Man and his wife.
This year the new Head Man, Mr Engin Cinar and his wife Mucella Cinar, welcomed the group and presented them with flowers and handicraft gifts.
Mr Cinar and Eric Langford laid wreaths together and national anthems of the two countries were sung. In his speech Mr Cinar hoped that the friendship bridge between the two small villages would make a small contribution to world peace. There was an exchange of gifts between the two villages and Gallipoli and Dardanelles International.
After the ceremony the visitors were treated to refreshments by the people of the village.
It was a wonderful occasion, with a great warmth of welcome and goodwill.
Lest we forget.
