The cemetery at the Brookwood Burial Ground, Surrey, was created after the Second World War and commemorates servicemen from the Free French forces whose bodies were buried in varied cemeteries throughout the United Kingdom.
The ceremony was led by H.E. The Ambassador for France.
A representative of G&DI was invited by the French Embassy to attend and lay a wreath. Committee Member Paul McCue attended representing G&DI and laid a wreath.
French members of G&DI were also in attendance, including Marie-Jose Clayton who represented The Order of Merit in the UK.
It was a very moving ceremony and G&DI is grateful to the French Embassy for the opportunity to attend,
Lest we forget.
We are deeply & passionately committed to remembering Gallipoli for all people and all ages, but we are particularly keen to foster educational opportunities for the young people of the countries that fought there, in order that understanding and international accord might be increased.
