Annual De Gaulle Day ceremony at the De Gaulle Statue in Central London 18.6.2025
A ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of Gen Charles de Gaulle’s “Appel” BBC radio broadcast to Occupied France on 18 June 1940, establishing the intention to fight on as Free French.

The ceremony took place beneath de Gaulle’s statue at Carlton Gardens, off The Mall in central London. Attended by H.E. The French Ambassador, Consul General, French Defence Attache. French Military Attaché.


G&DI President John Crowe together with Committee members Guy Audibert, Ian Reed, and Paul McCue, together with members Marie-Jose Clayton, Daniel Steck and Bernard Masson also attended.

The ceremony was very well attended on a sunny day. The French National Anthem together with the British National anthem was sung by young French School Children


The President laid a wreath on behalf of G&DI.
