The Turkish ‘Martyrs Day’ on 18th March, 2026 at The Turkish Cemetery, Brookwood Burial Ground, Surrey.

The ceremony was blessed with good weather which encouraged a strong turn out, largely Turkish military (chiefly Navy) but with many civilians from the British/Turkish and British/Turkish Cypriot communities.
Our representative, Mr Paul McCue, from Gallipoli & Dardanelles International, attended and laid a wreath.
Committee Member, Mrs Servet Hassan, was also in attendance.
G&DI merited a special mention in H.E. The Turkish Ambassador’s speech. He also made a point of approaching Paul after the ceremony, to thank him for G&DI’s support.
H.E. finishes his posting in the UK this summer.
Several of the civilians attending were interested and asked about G&DI. Paul felt very welcomed and that it was a great pleasure and honour to participate.
