Our charitable work and objectives

Gallipoli & Dardanelles International is a registered charity, number 1153667.

We received our registration as a UK charity just a few days before our formal launch in the Gallipoli Peninsula in mid-September 2013,

Our stated charitable objectives are:

To advance the education of the public, especially young people in the legacy and lessons of the Gallipoli campaign, particularly by honouring and commemorating the campaign and encouraging the study of each country’s experience of the campaign.

In more detail.

Education:

With a special emphasis on the young, we are committed to sharing the legacy and lessons of Gallipoli. We pursue this primary aim by resourcing schools and youth links between the countries represented at Gallipoli, by supporting battlefield visits, through liaison with youth groups worldwide and by producing material for use in school national curriculums.

Remembrance:

We work internationally to honour the memory of all who fought and fell at Gallipoli, regardless of race or religion. Throughout the year we organise local, national and worldwide commemorations, and we are always pleased to offer support for new expressions of remembrance.

International friendship and accord:

Our remit is truly international. This was ably demonstrated by launching G&DI in Turkey in September 2013, hosted magnificently by the Gelibolu Dernige. We have representatives throughout the world and we intend to work on a partnership-basis with groups and associations around the world which share our aims.
